Abstract
Not too long ago producing multimedia content required studio equipment and extensive technical expertise, but we are at the point now where anyone can create, publish, and distribute compelling content with nothing more complex than a web browser and zero expense. A kernel of curiosity led to a resource of more than 50 free web-based tools for creating multimedia content, explored by telling the same story in each. Knowing and sharing tools have value, but meta lessons from this project are that in our field we tend to emphasize the tools over the development of the craft of creativity. Tools come and go even more quickly than ever, but let's explore and focus our efforts on the skills that transcend and never become obsolete.
