Abstract

This study examined the influence of CD-ROM storybooks on the reading comprehension and attitudes toward reading of 37 matched pairs of third graders. Comprehension was measured using story retelling and open-ended question. The results indicated that when comprehension was measured by story retelling, students who read the CD-ROM storybooks scored significantly higher than students who read the print versions of the storybooks. When comprehension was measured by open-ended questions, there was no significant difference between the two groups. Students' attitude toward reading was measured by the Elementary Reading Attitude Survey. The results indicated no significant difference between the reading attitude of the students in the groups.
