A range of pedagogic, administrative, socio-economic, structural and resource issues surround the establishment of a global campus. This paper identifies and discusses such issues, and suggests that pedagogic aspects are paramount. The limitations of conventional subject-based approaches are considered, and local experience in curriculum design and module integration is discussed in the context of flexible learning, wider access and participation. The need for a range of learner support mechanisms is indicated, and our implementation (together with others) is described. The concept of a global campus is underpinned by appropriate technological developments. Internet- and Web-based experience is discussed, as is the need for more radical approaches such as Virtual Reality techniques.
