Abstract
As e-book reading devices and tablet computers have been increasingly used in the college classrooms, instructors have provided students with more e-content materials, and e-textbooks have become a common format in current higher education settings. The purpose of this study was to examine students’ attitudes toward e-textbooks. A researcher-developed instrument measured 75 undergraduate students’ attitudes toward e-textbooks used in their courses. Through factor analysis, a few dimensions emerged regarding factors related to the attitudes. The factors included interface design, navigation design, and learner support. In general, students had a moderately above-neutral positive attitude toward e-textbooks. The findings may shed light on the design of e-textbooks and may help instructors choose the satisfying e-content materials as learner support.
