Abstract

Abstract: This pilot project explored elementary preservice teachers’ use of social media for personal use, educational use when required by their professors, and educational use when not required by their professors. Their use of social media for creation of content was also studied. The survey results confirm that undergraduates do not transfer their personal use of social media to education unless required to do so by their professors. They also did not report creation of online content for personal use compared to the creation of content in required technology courses. The findings highlight the need for the integration of educational technology across the entire teacher education curricula.
