Abstract

In this paper we describe a support system for e-Learners who study an e-Learning subject. The system suggests a reference page to the learners who experience a learning impasse. The primary objective of this study is to provide relevant and effective reference pages to learners of a particular e-Learning subject by mining the data on the reference pages from extensive learning log data of a group of learners who have successfully completed that particular e-Learning subject. The purpose of developing such a system is not to completely replace teachers, but to reduce their responsibilities, especially in the case of distance learning. A prototype of the system is designed and installed in a web-based environment, and a mining method for retrieving reference pages and suggesting them to the learners experiencing a learning impasse is introduced. An experiment was performed to see how the reference pages are suggested.
