Abstract

Web 2.0 tools encourage communication, collaboration, and creativity in an e-learning environment, enabling students to better connect with teachers and their peers both locally and around the world. Examples of Web 2.0 tools include wikis, Google Docs, glogs, Vokis, Animotos, and more. The benefits of using these tools include increased interactivity, faster and more meaningful collaboration, and the ability to incorporate multimedia with ease. As a solution to strained budgets, Web 2.0 tools also present a low-cost/no-cost approach to fostering teacher-student and student-student communication while still providing an authentic, cutting-edge learning environment for digital natives. By incorporating Web 2.0 tools in the classroom, K-12 and higher education teachers can harness the increasing capabilities of the Internet to improve e-learning opportunities for all students.
