Abstract

This paper presents a work in progress for a Nutrition eLearning Portal. Competency-based learning is receiving increasing attention from medical and health care related education while Nutrition is being recognised as being central to disease prevention and effective health care. In order to equip our current and future health care practitioners with better knowledge and skills in nutrition, we have worked on our technical approaches to competency-based eLearning that emphasises on individualised study and flexible learning pattern. A complex recommender system is also proposed to further facilitate competency-based learning. The evaluation of the effectiveness of our approaches is also briefly discussed.
