Abstract

As technology continues to redefine the educational experience, departments are seeking methods and environments to better acquaint perspective and existing students with their program’s information, opportunities and faculty availability and interests. The purpose of the Online Learning Technologies Experience (oLTECx) was to introduce and orient users to the Department of Learning Technologies (which recently moved to a new location), presenting information on the department, on faculty and research interests through an online virtual environment that recreates the offices space. Initial data was collected through a 2D environment to evaluate the relation between students’ previous usage of technology devices and self-efficacy with their experience in the oLTECx through a quest system. Participants experienced a guided narrative permitting them to explore and interact with the department faculty and staff within the virtual world.
