Abstract
Collaboration systems have been posed as a useful tool in enhancing the collaboration, participation and learning outcomes of student team projects. However, studies have shown that students and educators still find difficulties managing existing team projects using these systems. Based on collaborative pedagogy, student participation in online environments and awareness literature, the paper will delineate motivations for the design of an integrated collaboration system, WeVise. WeVise embeds awareness and monitoring capabilities such that both students and educators are able to find out who is using the system, what has been contributed to the project, who has not been using the system etc. It is hoped that the integrated collaboration system will be well-received by students and educators in helping them manage student team projects. Furthermore, this working prototype will contribute to the research and development of future collaboration systems.
