Abstract

The changing information society, new methods of social interaction and network organizations influence the core conceptions in teaching and learning. The social changes related to Web 2.0 technologies force us to view the conceptions of information and expertise in a new light. It is important to realize that the change taking place is not merely a technical development but involves a significant impact on social behavior, means of collaboration and organization structures. As a result, working life and meta-skill requirements have changed and are changing. Therefore the relevance of teaching methods must be critically assessed. To meet this need, an online study module e-Learning Methods and Tools aimed at teacher students, was designed and implemented during the academic year 2008-2009 simultaneously in three European universities. This paper examines the impact of the aforementioned social and technological phenomena on education and discusses the views of the group of teacher students from different European countries regarding the change.
