Abstract

This case study aims to determine business students’ perception of online collaboration pre/post a computer-assisted collaboration assignment. 15 students were randomly grouped and told to use computer-assisted-collaborative tool on Blackboard (Bb). Data was gathered through two face-to-face standardized interviews. Results showed that prior to working on the collaborative tool on Bb, students held that they were confident and comfortable in using Bb. Few were confident or comfortable using computer-assisted collaboration. Following their assigned work, students’ perception changed. The limitations met in this research study were the university’s Bb infrastructure, the relatively small size of the sample, and the short time interval in which the sample worked. It is recommended that additional research be conducted in this area to further examine the relationship between the characteristics of computer-assisted-collaboration and the achievement of students.
