Abstract
In 2003, Merit Network Inc., a non-profit company associated with the University of Michigan devoted to high-performance networking for education and research, obtained an NSF grant to integrate Internet2 video into its Michigan Teacher Network (MTN) digital library. Working in collaboration the University of Washington in a project entitled “Viewing the Future,” researchers, researchers selected videos from University of Washington Television (UWTV) and Research Channel. As a result of MTN users’ mixed reactions to using initial videos despite their seeming interest in streaming media, in 2005, the researcher devised an exploratory to study the implementation landscape of streaming video in schools. The results suggested that power and support structures in schools play pivotal roles in the adoption of new streaming media resources.
