Abstract
Abstract: This paper describes an instructional development project that creates an online platform for teaching the complex concept of peacebuilding. It uses an instructional design model for higher order thinking and engages experts as well as students from a small comprehensive university’s International Cultural Studies and Instructional Design and Development programs. The resulting product enables learners to be emotionally connected with the content so they can understand and apply this knowledge when they later interact with other learners in an online community. As conflict is prevalent both individually and socially, understanding how to build peace within oneself becomes ever more important. If applied correctly, this project can create an e-learning environment that helps learners see in their own lives the problems of disconnection and self-deception associated with conflict. Once this understanding has taken place, change becomes the natural result. Respectful, interdependent relationships can form and the path towards peace can begin.
