Abstract

Learning is a phenomenon of participative and shared intelligence in the context of Web 2.0 technologies. In the age of digital divide, learning communities are transforming from using linear interactions into communities to cooperate and collaborate. Hence focusing and understanding the social informatics perspective of technology is important as it directs the research attention towards social and organizational contexts of learning, within which the Web 2.0 technologies are deployed. Ethnicity being a social attribute - is the focus of this study. Learners from diverse ethnic and racial communities inhibit certain inferior and passive attributes that may influence their perspective, contribution, engagement, and interaction to use technology. The study will focus to indentify observable factors that may influence one’s perspective, selection, participation, and thoroughness in using certain technologies.
