Abstract

Abstract: Successful online learning courses require a large amount of preparation time on the part of the instructor and the technical support team. Much of the course content is centered on instructor knowledge, support material and presentation style. Once the course is implemented, changes are inevitable and are not easy to install. Taking the course from online to a hybrid provides a tool for making and testing major changes before a large investment is made to update the online course. In addition, hybrid courses provide a training platform for new instructors. This paper examines a variety of ways that a hybrid course can provide a mechanism for testing the online components and transitioning instructors. Recommendations for improving the changes to the online course are offered.
