Abstract
This article describes a interactive virtual environment for distance learning that supports training activities for Civil Construction workers developed by Campos (2004). The solution proposed by the author involved the development of a modern didactic tool, based on an interactive virtual environment including also multimedia features. In order to do this, all phases of the instructional design for the execution of the distance training have been performed. After that, a case study was conducted and an evaluation methodology was adopted to compare the efficiency of the distance training related to traditional training. This paper also presents the results found in this comparison.
