Abstract

The University of Central Lancashire Department of nursing is one of the largest in the UK and represents a complexity of provision which is not prevalent in most UK universities. This particular project focused on the development and delivery of an online nursing programme of study at an undergraduate level. The whole programme has achieved significant success and this paper considers some of the major facets and contributing factors of this success. A review of the provision, access, evaluation and analysis produce a practical summary and implementable set of recommendations on the realistic application of eLearning in an organisational perspective for what are ‘traditionally’ regarded as reluctant technology users. The context is located within the eLearning nursing programme which utilises technology based learning extensively. The report will consider a variety of media types and support issues associated with moving towards effective eLearning.
