Abstract
The purpose of this roundtable session is to share on-line, differentiated case-based lessons aligned with the curriculum in Advanced Placement (AP) Humanities courses. The lessons are constructed so that AP teachers can have ready-made materials on-hand to differentiate instruction for the rapidly increasing academic and cultural diversity among their AP students. The goal of the project is to develop fully-articulated case-based lessons that are responsive to diverse students’ interests, readiness levels, and learning profiles to promote greater retention and success of students from diverse backgrounds in AP courses. The lessons are designed so that they may be used by the teacher with the entire class, or be given to individual students to use for supplemental support or extra challenge on an individual basis. The curriculum development process, the template used to develop the on-line case-based curriculum, and the lessons developed for AP English and History courses will be shared during the roundtable session.
