Abstract
Robotics has the potential to motivate student learning in mathematics, science, and engineering. However, existing robotics activities typically do not have a rich story context to motivate students; and more significantly, they do not often address specific content knowledge such as mathematics and science. As an effort to fill the gap in the literature, we have redesigned our robotics enrichment program to embed a rich story context and mathematical content knowledge in the robotics challenges. In the presentation, we will focus on the design of the challenges. It is our hope that the presentation can open a dialogue on how to leverage the affordances of emerging technologies, such as robotics, to design and implement educational programs that can meaningfully deliver specific content area knowledge.
