Abstract

Given the prolific nature of mobile technology devices today (i.e. cell phones, MP3 players, Blackberries, laptops, hand held video games), second language (L2) educators are able to reach students through many different types of media, twenty- four hours a day. Learning does not have to begin and end in the classroom; podcasting offers students the ability to tune in even when school is out. This paper discusses the advantages to using podcasting in a second language classroom and presents data collected from a survey of more than one hundred educators from various disciplines and institutions who expressed their opinions of and experiences with podcasting in the classroom. The presentation will focus on analysis of the survey and examples of uses for podcasting in a second language classroom.
