Abstract

Pedagogical agents have been studied as a tool to support learners' active cognitive process by promoting learners' interest through their persona and messages delivered. Especially, they can be used to promote students' situational interest that lead to a high degree of attention and will foster the readiness of learners to get involved in the learning process. In this paper, the role of pedagogical agents was discussed based on the learning interest theory, and some examples of using pedagogical agent as a learning interest promoting tool are presented.
