Abstract
A free-form, INTASC-based, reflective portfolio has been used in our teacher education program for four years. Parallel to this initiative is a Macintosh laptop initiative that enabled teacher education students to create portfolios using Netscape Composer. In 2006, Apple introduced iWeb, a web site creation software that is tightly integrated with the operating system and other digital media applications. We present the effects of iWeb from two perspectives. Our first use was from Fall 2006 in which we introduced iWeb to an introductory course in educational technology. The second is from the Fall of 2007 in which we integrated it into an introductory course for secondary education majors. While technically, the iWeb software affords many conveniences, its primary impact has been on the early inclusion of digital media into the portfolio and a method for content development that is more congruent with existing skills and digital literacies.
