Abstract
In this paper we describe the process undertaken a teacher education institution as they design and implement a web-based assessment and data aggregation tool. The tool, Taskstream, became the vehicle for moving from student learning assessment to the assessment of the programs and practices in a teacher education institution. Development and implementation of the CSUS e-portfolio involved extensive faculty collaboration, planning, execution, support and resources. In addition, the evaluation of the electronic portfolio system was also conducted periodically. The assessment reports, accompanied by the data, will be generated on TaskStream describing highlights, challenges, and steps that will be taken to maintain the highlights and to address the challenges in the programs and practices. Moreover, the reports and data also help the institution adjust assessment practices and procedures in order to maximize the fairness of the assessment for candidates. The uses of TaskStream, periodical assessment reports and the limitations of TaskStream will be discussed in this paper.
