Abstract
The use of commercial games to teach has been a hot topic of debate in the education sector for many years, but there seems to be a dearth of practical applications of the theory. This paper aims to publish some initial results of an experiment to use a freely available commercial game ("The Movies" by Lionhead Studios) to teach students the basics of Video Production. Although these results are preliminary and need more work, there is already encouraging signs of how to use the experience in a wider context, as well as improve practice in this new and exciting area.
