Abstract
Eportfolios represent a confluence of two powerful trends in tertiary education, experiential learning and performance-based outcomes assessment. The intersection of these two trends may be illustrated in a professional English course designed for second language learners targeting the development of relevant skills and knowledge for entry into the workplace on graduation from university. This paper describes a case study of the eportfolio that has been completed by over 1300 Arts students over a three year period. It introduces the course and eportfolio, describes assessment criteria and processes, and discusses core assessment issues faced by course based eportfolio developers and assessors world wide.
