Abstract

This paper presents the structure and philosophy behind the use of embedded video in an online, multimedia system to teach preservice and inservice teachers how to integrate technology into their academic subject areas. Following a brief description of the state of technology teaching mandates in Korea and a brief discussion of anchored instruction and case-based learning, the structure and goals for the instructional system that is being developed will be presented. The paper thus addresses the questions: How can an online, multimedia instructional system be developed to facilitate teachers' knowledge about integrating technology into their subject-area courses? and What would be the underpinnings by which such a system could maximize its effectiveness?
