Abstract
This paper deals with a five years teaching experiment of SQL (Structured Query Language) using an on-line course connected to a true DBMS (DataBase Management System) in a way complementary to classical lectures on database. The experiment appears to be successful as it has allowed to go deeper in the classical lectures and to improve the mastership of students in SQL. In the near future, this on-line course, which is freely available on the Web, will be included in a distance education program.
