Abstract

This study, currently in-progress, focuses on the implementation and usage patterns of a web-based social bookmarking application in use in a upper-level course focusing on the integration of technology in K-12 education. Similar to popular social bookmarking applications focusing on technology and other types of news such as the digg.com or del.icio.us websites, the web application used in this course focuses on the collection and rating of web-based resources for teacher education students that relate to the use of technology in K-12 education. The social bookmarking application was developed during the summer, 2006 and is currently being tested during the fall, 2006 academic term. Participating students are required to post links to new web-based resources and rate those submitted by other students on a weekly basis. The purpose of this study is to identify common usage trends as well as attitudes towards the use and value of the application in developing a broader view of the use of technology in K-12 teaching and learning environments.
