Abstract
We present a usability evaluation of the open source platform for distance learning .LRN. The main problems and issues concerning usability in open source software projects are discussed, by highlighting the importance of making formal studies of the interaction models and interface design in this type of developments. The usability study with experts and end-users, and the main results obtained are presented, interpreted, and discussed. Finally, we analyze some issues and proposals that should be considered both by the developers of this particular platform, and also by open source user-centered software developers.
