Abstract
Inquiry-based learning has gained wide interest and has invited many people~{!/~}s effort in improving the relevant research and practice. Inquiry-based learning research can be viewed as a moving edge, which is made up of the critical studies conducted in the field and continually being pushed ahead to cover new frontiers by posing new questions worth answering. The proposed paper is written by adopting this metaphor. First, I will analyze the theoretical edge and frontiers for the foundation of inquiry-based learning research. Then, I will propose an inquiry-based model based on synthesizing various inquiry models in the literature. This is followed by identifying edges and relevant frontiers for each component of the synthesized model. It is my hope that the paper will influence educational research on topics related to inquiry-based learning.
