Abstract
The interface design of mobile products such as the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) has become a hot issue recently. A variety of products are being rapidly developed for extended usages. However, the design of mobile device interfaces is still relatively unexplored and unproven. Therefore, we need new appropriate guidelines for interface design of the PDA. Based on the human centered approach, I will develop an interface design framework for a small, handheld PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) from reviewing the related literature. Before specifying PDA design guidelines I will compare 2 basic types of user interfaces for two PDAs (Pocket PC and Palm) based on developed guidelines.
