Abstract

A 1-1 laptop initiative has been establish by Kean University at a New Jersey middle school in an urban setting. Supported by a US DOE Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant, the project has supported well-developed professional development, both for teachers and administrators, and a thorough assessment model. This session will demonstrate and discuss the project's experience in: 1. Implementation of an effective professional development program; 2. Teacher roles and responsibilities in a middle school 1-1 laptop program; 3. Establishment of an effective model for program assessment; 4. Integration of technology in a standards-based school environment; 5. Roles and responsibilities of partner university staff; 6. Dynamics of establishing a new Professional Development School partnership
