Abstract

Electronic Portfolio (ePortfolio) has a promising role in today's society as students and educators try to better reflect and demonstrate their skills and knowledge than traditional assessments. However, many of the users have challenges with creating and selecting the appropriate form of ePortfolio. Therefore, the purpose of this study in responding to such a problem is to 1) clearly define the nature of ePortfolio, based on current literature, 2) compare different approaches on producing ePortfolio, and 3) compare different commercial products for producing ePortfolio. This paper will focus on students' portfolios, but it will also provide insights on faculty & institutional portfolios, as these portfolios are inter-related. Findings will not only benefit users but also institutions that are interested in searching for the most efficient and effective ePortfolio. Audiences of this study will understand ePortfolio's nature and how it is being created.
