Abstract
Abstract: In 2001 the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) College of Education abolished comprehensive exams for its education students and required them to develop and present digital portfolios instead. The first student digital portfolios were drafted in PowerPoint and Front Page. In fall of 2004 students were required to upload their digital portfolios into Chalk and Wire (C&W). The secondary education portfolio is based on NCATE principles for teachers. Content standards are met through the learned society standards such as the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the National Council for teachers of Social Studies (NCSS), and the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE).
