Abstract

This study examines alternative assessment approaches in online learning environments within the context of higher education. The study focuses on how to create online electronic portfolios using the World Wide Web (WWW) and a variety of other multi-media delivery systems. The study further examines Electronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS) as an instructional delivery strategy that relates to online delivery systems. The primary focus of this study is to examine the changing context in which pre-service teachers have to adapt to a rapidly shifting technological g environment. The study also focuses on how pre-service teachers can apply technology within classroom environments using the instructional systems design approach. Finally, the study examines the different types of media and communication systems that have been developed in creating digital portfolios and methods of reporting and presenting student performance outcomes.
