Abstract
Abstract: The Technology Education CHange Initiative (TECH), a partnership of the USF College of Education, Apple, Intel and three school districts, is restructuring the delivery of teacher education. Strategies for infusing technology-supported innovations into the teacher preparation program include surveys of faculty readiness; Technology Transfer Teams; cohort meetings; mentors; "action plans"; electronic portfolios; digital video/web-based "exhibits;" and PT3 Special Events. Using data gathered through digital video, surveys, electronic portfolios, and artifact reviews, this panel discussion will focus on the efficacy of the broad range of strategies for producing technology proficient teachers. Panelists will profile what success looks like at faculty and pre-service teacher levels using examples including actions that led to the success or failure of each strategy; essential conditions for achieving success within the university, and the relative merits of the TECH Initiative strategies.
