Abstract

Teacher certification guidelines in Pennsylvania are based on the INTASC standards. Students organize their teaching portfolios based on those standards. Beginning with their first Education class, they begin collecting "artifacts" related to one of the INTASC areas. Also in each education course, students are introduced to technology skills. By the time students are ready for their student teaching internship, they have developed competencies in various forms of computer technology and pedagogical skills. During student teaching, they complete their collection of artifacts and publish their electronic portfolio on CD's. They also prepare a more traditional "paper portfolio." Procedures for portfolio development will be covered and samples of student portfolios will be displayed.
