Abstract

This review covers research conducted within the past 10 years on the topic of using computer models and simulations to aid science instruction at the precollege level. The author suggests categorizing the research into three main areas: students running preprogrammed simulations, students creating dynamic models using modeling environments, and students using programming environments to create simulations. Because this area of research is in its infancy, few conclusions are drawn; however, numerous suggestions for avenues of future research are provided.
