Abstract

Beginning in 2015-2016, the edTPA will become a consequential high stakes assessment for all initial certification candidates in the state of Georgia in every teacher education program. The edTPA is a summative performance assessment given at the end of an educator preparation program to help determine teacher readiness. Part of this assessment requires that all teacher candidates video record themselves in the classroom and then upload the footage to an online system for a third party to assess. This has created some unique challenges from the curriculum and technical perspective. This paper will address how iPads are being used to circumvent the typical issues that arise when students use a large variety of technologies to accomplish the video component of the edTPA and maintain the strict requirements set forth in the assessment. This is a work-in-progress and will be updated before the conference.
