Abstract

Faculty development is crucial to the success of online learning programs. However, Traditional faculty development activities such as workshops and newsletters typically have limited impact on faculty teaching because of the lack of relevance and transferability. A case-based performance support system is developed to provide just-in-time and customized faculty support to encourage reflection, enable the linking of experience with theoretical knowledge, and promote knowledge sharing in a community that practices Web-based instruction. This paper reports the developmental process of the project, describes the issues encountered, presents initial findings and discusses lessons learned.
