Abstract
Abstract: Shadow netWorkspace™(SNS) is an online learning environment that includes a personal workspace for managing files and a group workspace and communication tools for collaborative activity. With many functions and a variety of contexts including multiple group types there is a lot for teachers and students to learn. Usability testing is a key strategy for testing the ease of learning and the ability of students to make sense of interface features. A usability test of SNS was conducted with multiple user types (graduate, undergraduate and junior high school students). The results of the usability test provide guidance for the design and development of web-based systems. Similarly the relationships between user satisfaction and usability factors suggest approaches for usability testing of online learning environments.
