Abstract
With more to teach in the school day there is less and less time for student free exploration-an essential element of motivation in student learning. Using the free online environment 'Think.com' I created for my fifth grade students an online space where they could safely explore and discuss the topics we were covering in class-without apportioning precious class time to each of the activities separately. In this paper I discuss how I set up the online classroom space to fit with our traditional classroom, what types of activities I included, how the students responded, and what I learned from the experience.
