Abstract

Visual displays of information may be useful components to guide the preservice educator's development of a conceptual framework of understanding of standards alignment. A rationale for the use of concept maps as a way to promote an understanding of the connections between special education coursework, preservice standards, and learner standards, as well as issues related to the learner's ability to engage in both divergent and convergent thinking, will be presented for discussion. Sample concept maps relating special education coursework and field experience requirements to learner technology standards will be available for purposes of discussion.
