Abstract
Authoring and On-line publishing systems attempt to support the learner fs design processes. However, typically the learner fs activities are confined to searching, selecting and reading. In analyzing the role of technology in the learning processes, we conclude that top priority must be given to the construction of infrastructure that supports real communication and cooperative learning processes. Achieving this aim will allow us to properly harness the technology fs potential. We have therefore sought to create and implement the Educative Virtual Collections (EduVC) architecture. It has the attributes of providing both a shared and individual working environment. From a technical perspective EduVC stores and manipulates data differently from @existing systems. It is this attribute that allows us to create a more flexible, dynamic, visually represented environment for the learner.
