Abstract
Teaching online requires skills, aptitudes, and strategies that may or may not be transferred from face-to-face learning environments. Most faculty members use course management systems (CMS) as an ancillary tool to augment classroom instruction. This study compares faculty members' teaching styles to the instructional design of their courses within CMS. The study reveals that there is evidence teaching style is transferred or applied in CMS, and for many teaching style is more flexible in a CMS.
