Abstract
Universal Access aims at improving software usability so as for individuals with diversities to efficiently use them. The design of educational environments adapted to the abilities of students with learning difficulties (ADHD, dyslexia, etc.) is an important issue that needs investigation. The study presented here departs from the above arisen need. We investigated the effects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) use on the behavior and academic performance of pupils with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms. Primary school pupils with and without ADHD symptoms worked on the computer, on a series of especially designed activities with educational environments of different types and characteristics. The results indicate that software's specific features and related activities stimulated the ADHD students' attention more than other did. On the basis of our research we propose directions for the design of educational environments suitable to the needs and abilities of pupils with ADHD problems.
