Abstract

As online courses with instructional multimedia become more widespread, instructors have increasingly been pressured to design and develop effective multimedia for online courses. Designing and developing instructional multimedia require careful attention and involve a complex and labor intensive process. Effective multimedia design involves the systematic and comprehensive approach to analyze the context of use as well as aspects such as the learner, task, and setting. This article emphasizes the considerations and principles of instructional multimedia for online courses.
