Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore some of the major applications of the Internet to address the issue of digital divide and how to close the gap. The Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has created a radical shift in business paradigm & is also creating a growing gap in the digital divide. For example, in 2001, only 5% of the global population used the Web, and the vast majority of this 5% was located in the developed economies. The exploitation of new technology has been the source of wealth creation for some developed countries, the USA in particular. In this age of e-Economy and globalization even a developing country can be immensely benefited through the proper use of ICTs. We shall take the case of India, as a source of inspiration for many developing countries to exploit this new technology to create wealth. India being a developing country is proving itself a dominant force in IT industry and now an important business partner for many developed countries.
