Abstract
Abstract: Multimedia technology has been used extensively in the teaching and learning of English as a second and foreign language. However, some people still misjudge what computers are capable of. Some language teachers are afraid of being replaced by this technology. The purpose of this study is to explore roles of teachers and computers in language instruction. The findings of the present study showed that most teachers did not integrate computers into language instruction, but they will integrate computers in the future. The majority of them thought the teacher could be a guide mentor or a language advisor, whereas the computer could serve as a facilitator or a supplement to instruction.
